our operational footprint:

WPDA works in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia. In Kenya, WPDA works in northern Kenya Counties-Wajir, Marsabit, Isiolo, Mandera, and Garissa. The bulk of work is concentrated in Wajir County, especially in Eldas, Tarbaj, Wajir North, Wajir West, Wajir East, and Wajir South sub-counties. The organization also works in Kenya- Ethiopia, -Somalia where it implements cross-border programmes.

MOHAMED HASSAN MUMIN.

Chairman

Mr Mohamed is the chairman of Wajir peace Agency. He is a retired paramount chief; He has received many awards and accolades for outstanding work in peace Building in the larger North Eastern region. He was the one of the architects of the famed Modogashe Declarations that spelt out the modalities of preventing; managing and controlling conflicts. Mr Mumin is an acclaimed mediator who diligently and devotedly commits himself to Peace Building and access to justice and human rights by the socially marginalised groups. It’s as the results of these undertakings that he had the privileged and the owner to crown HE Barack Obama as Somali elder during his visit to Wajir in 2005.
He is widely travelled man who went to countries such as South Africa and Somalia to teach home-grown peace strategies and alternative disputes resolution mechanisms.

MRS. ASHA ABDIRAHMAN.

Mrs Aisha is an Educationist of repute currently serving as the District Quality Assurance and Standards officer in Wajir East Districts. She has gathered sufficient knowledge and skills in peace building and conflict management right from the time she headed the youth for peace network. She was instrumental in the formation of Wajir Peace Committee the precursor of WPDA. She is generally innovative, resolute and knowledgeable personality. She also widely travelled having participated in peace building conferences within and without Kenya.He is widely travelled man who went to countries such as South Africa and Somalia to teach home-grown peace strategies and alternative disputes resolution mechanisms.

MR. DANIEL PETER MWANGI

Mr Daniel Peter Mwangi is a pastor with Wajir Catholic ministry and has an extensive background and experience in Finance for the last 2 decades in the office of the president under the Wajir District. He is the chair of Interfaith Council of Wajir County.

MRS. FATUMA MOHAMED MIRE

Mrs Mire is a famous women right and peace activist in Wajir County. For several years she was the chairlady of Wajir Women Traders Association. It’s in this office that she cut for herself un niche and for peace building and conflict management. Her tireless effort in transforming Wajir led to her election as the chair of Wajir Women for Peace. Due to her immense involvement in peace building in Wajir County, she was owner with Head of State Commendation (HSC, civilian division by His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki in 2004)

MR. MAYOW YUSSUF HASSAN

A retired paramount chief who played a pivotal role in the mediation of Degodia -Ajuran conflict in early nineties. He is highly skilled in alternative disputes resolutions and currently a member of Alfatah Council of elders.

MRS. NURIA ABDULLAHI ABDI

Mrs Abdi, a holder of MA Peace Building and Conflict Management, University of Virginia, Harrisonburg USA, is currently the regional Manager in Peace Building and Conflict Management with InterPeace. She had an outstanding career in peace building related issues and a widely travelled lady bringing with her over 15 years of professional experience in peace building and conflict resolutions. She was among the brain child behind Wajir Peace formation. Brilliant and dynamic, she has, all leadership expertise required. Due to her immense involvement in peace building in Wajir County, she was honoured with Head of State Commendation (HSC), civilian division by His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki in 2004

Sheikh Adan is a respected Muslim scholar whose knowledge and skills in peace building and conflict management from Islamic perspective was instrumental in resolving inter and intra clan conflicts in the early nineties.

MR. HASSAN ABDI ABDILLE

Mr Hassan has an extensive knowledge on human rights and governance issues. He is currently the regional coordinator of KNCHR in Northern Kenya based in Wajir District. He is also a consultant on livelihood programs, agro- forestry and horticultural farming. He has Masters in Peace and Security, and Human rights.

MR. DAUD GULIYE YAKUB.

Mr Guliye is a livestock specialist with ministry of livestock development (MoLD) in Wajir. Mr Guliye holds a Master’s Degree in Range Management from the University of Nairobi. He has attended numerous peace seminars and workshops within and outside Kenya.

MR. HUSSEIN ADAN MUHAMUD

Mr Muhamud is a retired educationist who rose to the rank of senior education officer. He is a graduate and has an advanced diploma in Guidance and Counselling. Mr Hussein served as the coordinator of Peace Education Network before his elevation and played an integral role in the formulation of a peace education curriculum and peace diary for use by school going children.
Mr Hussein has an extensive knowledge in peace building and livelihood programs. He is also a TOT in trauma healing, peace building and livelihood activities. He is a respected peace maker and widely travelled personality who has been to South Africa, Mozambique, Somalia, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Cambodia.
He is a consultant with a research institution called Centre for Peace and Applied Research and was instrumental in the establishments of conflicts early warning centres in Wajir County. He also spearheaded the establishments of conflicts sensitive programs for CBOs,NGOs and civil service sector in Wajir county.

MRS. ORAY ADAN HUSSEIN

Ms Adan is an entrepreneur cum educationists with extensive involvement in voicing for women empowerment and leadership. She is actively engaged in access to justice programs by minorities groups and sits in several boards in Primary and Secondary schools in Wajir. He is a consultant with a research institution called Centre for Peace and Applied Research and was instrumental in the establishments of conflicts early warning centres in Wajir County. He also spearheaded the establishments of conflicts sensitive programs for CBOs,NGOs and civil service sector in Wajir county.
