From conflict, a movement was born
In the early 1990s, Wajir County was consumed by clan conflict, banditry and displacement. A locally led peace movement emerged, first driven by women, then embraced by elders, religious leaders, youth and government officials.
WPDA grew from this experience. For over two decades we have worked across northern Kenya, expanding from peacebuilding to education, livelihoods, water security, climate resilience and stronger local systems.
